IF YOU VOTED ANYTHING BUT LABOUR YOU WERE WEIRD

I grew up in a scheme in the East End of Glasgow, if you voted anything other than Labour, you were a bit of "a weirdo". I always believed the Labour party done its best for the working class.

During the "Thatcher years" when our country was destroyed, I still thought of Labour as the saviour of the working class. I did not want to turn my back on the rest of my class, who did not happen to be Scottish.

I moved to England in the mid 90's and still supported Labour. Fast forward to 2014, 6 months prior to the referendum. I thought, it does not matter how much you want to support the rest of the working class, this country (England) will always vote for the elite.

I decided to support Scotland's fight for Independence, albeit from afar. I thought - let us set Scotland free and perhaps the other nations will follow us.

What I saw was the Westminster elite, standing shoulder to shoulder to stop Scotland's progression.

Their campaign of fear and the lies said everything I needed to know about the system of their fear and greed.

I was brought up thinking of the SNP as "Tartan Tories" and an underlying fear that Scotland could end up like Northern Ireland.

These are the lies; we are fed to keep us as a Nation "in our place".

I want to come home to an independent Scotland, a country that is welcoming and treats people as they should be treated. Hopefully, I get to come home prior to the next referendum, and I can be part of the change.
